Kogi Central Security Awareness Summit: Ohi of Okengwe-Ehi Commends Nig. Police, Calls for Stronger Collaboration

The Ohi of Okengwe-Ehi, HRH Alhaji Yusuf Atta Abdulkareem has charged the people of Kogi central senatorial district to be conscious of their environment, and report suspicious activities in their environment to security agencies.

HRH Yusuf stated this when he joined the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, and other traditional rulers to receive the newly appointed Commissioner of Police for Kogi State, CP Miller Dantawaye, and the Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG) Abubakar Zubairu, in Okene.

The traditional ruler called for stronger collaboration between the police and the traditional institutions emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.

The Ohi further hailed governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, noting that the present administration was committed to running a bottom-top approach as an inclusive government by using the communities as springboard for social and economic development.

While commending the Nigeria Police, he encouraged parents to promote the inculcation of norms and values in their children to reduce vices in societies.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from all parties to work together in tackling insecurity and promoting law and order in Kogi central.
Head of Security agencies including the Police, Civil Defence, Vigilante Group, Hunters group, Prison Service were at the Security summit.

Other dignitaries in attendance included AIG (Kogi/Kwara), Kogi State Commissioner of Police, DPOs from the 5 Police Divisions in Kogi central, PCRC officers from Kogi Central, Ohinoyi of Ebiraland and the LG chairmen of Okene and Adavi.

Recall that prior to the coming of the Police Commissioner and the AIG, the Ohi of Okengwe-Ehi, Alh. Yusuf Atta Abdulkareem had paid courtesy call on the security outfits in Kogi central, including the Area command Okene, DPO Okene, Vigilantee group, NSCDC, and the DSS, to chart way forward and adopt measure to sustain the existing peace in the area.
