Usman Austin Okai’s Desperate Attempt to Mislead the Public on Kogi State’s Financial Management

By Abdulkareem Adeiza Wizwab

The recent attempt to spread misinformation and create a false narrative of division and power tussle within the financial management of Kogi State by one Usman Okai Austin  is nothing but another display of his ignorance about governance and his obsession with petty politics of bitterness and hatred.

His claims are not only baseless but also a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and undermine the progress of the present administration simply because he thrives on falsehood and propaganda.

1. State Finances Are Under Structured Oversight, Not Personal Control: The Kogi State financial system operates under a well-structured and transparent framework, guided by due process, accountability, and efficiency. Okai's suggestion that an individual, be it the Accountant General or any other official, single-handedly controls state finances is a clear indication of your lack of understanding of governance and financial regulations. His desperation to deceive the public is shameful.

2. The Commissioner for Finance, Budget, and Economic Planning Remains in Charge: Honourable Asiwaju Idris, as the Commissioner overseeing finance and economic planning, remains firmly in control of his ministry, in line with the vision of the state government. Okai's attempt to portray him as powerless is a cheap lie and an insult to the office he holds. It only exposes your shallow understanding of governance and your continuous attempts to mislead the public. The commissioner has never been reduced to a mere figurehead, and his role in driving fiscal policies and economic planning remains pivotal.

3. Due Process, Not Cabals, Guides Financial Approvals: His claim that cabinet members cannot approve as little as ₦50,000 without government house involvement is another deliberate lie. Like every responsible government, Kogi State has strict financial guidelines to ensure public funds are managed efficiently. Financial approvals follow due process and are subjected to checks and balances, preventing unauthorized and frivolous expenditures. It is unfortunate that, instead of educating yourself on governance, you have chosen to spread falsehood.

4. No Individual Holds Kogi's Treasury "By the Jugular": His reference to "Okene cabals" is a reckless attempt to introduce ethnic and political sentiments into governance matters. This is a dangerous and divisive tactic that exposes the kind of toxic and bitter politics you represent. The Accountant General, Hajiya Dr. Habibat Onumoko, is a thorough professional carrying out her duties in line with the financial regulations of the state. Reducing her office to a power play narrative is a disservice to the institutional integrity she upholds, but we are not surprised, as you have never been known for constructive engagement, only mischief.

5. Commitment to Transparency and Accountability: Kogi State remains committed to financial transparency and prudent management of public resources. The administration prioritizes development, ensuring that every expenditure aligns with the collective interest of the people. Unlike you, whose only mission is to spread lies and fuel unnecessary controversy, this government remains focused on delivering results.

The public should disregard these unfounded allegations by @Usman Austin Okai, a man who has built his entire relevance on spreading falsehood and engaging in politics of bitterness.

Kogi State’s finances are in safe hands under the leadership of Governor Usman Ododo.

Governance is about service delivery, not the desperate antics of a failed propagandist like you.
