PRESS RELEASE: OFFICE OF THE NATIONAL PRESIDENT, ALUMNI FUL

The Federal University Lokoja Alumni wish to outrightly condemn the gruesome and constant killing of our Students, along the Crusher/Felele express way by heavy duty trailers/trucks and we wish to emphatically state that:

1. The Federal Government in collaboration with the State government should as a matter of urgency and in the interim ban all heavy duty trailer movement along the NATACO/Felele/Cruiser village route during the day time and the road should only be opened to them at night, as it is obtainable in some part of the Country.

2. The Federal Government in collaboration with the state government should take urgent steps in making sure that the one student' that survived the gruesome accident in person of Mr. *Sehaye Temidayo Emmanuel* a student in the Department of Business Education should be handled by the best physician in the Federal Teaching Hospital Lokoja, this is because from information availed to us yesterday, the young man is in severe state with pains from the result of the X-ray conducted on him, it was revealed that some of his internal organs might have been seriously affected.

3. The government should construct  over-head bridges at every kilometre from Crusher village to NATACO Park thus allowing Students to shun the idea of crossing the highway every now and then.

4. Also, there should be netting of the road from Crusher village down to NATACO Park to permanently stop Students from crossing the road.

5. Finally, we plead with the Federal Government to create an alternative Federal route for trucks/trailers different from the route used by smaller vehicles (tricycles and motorcycles), which should also start at Crusher Village down to NATACO Park.

6. The fact still remains that all the above long term measures won't be possible if there is no expansion of the Crusher/ Felele bypass which is less than 10 km.

7. We wish to wholeheartedly sympathize with the immediate families of the deceased Students who lost their lives, the University Management and the University community at large on this heinous act perpetually caused by the heavy duty trailer vehicle on 17th February 2025 at Crusher, Federal University Lokoja highway.

E-Signed:
Uloko Felix Omachoko
Alumni National President
Federal University Lokoja.
