In commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Her Excellency, Hajia Sefiyat Ododo, First Lady of Kogi State, hosted a landmark event aimed at fostering a safer and more equitable society for all.
The program which brought together policymakers, community leaders, and advocates to address gender-based violence and promote solutions for lasting change.
In his opening remarks, Honourable Ahmed Nuhu Enesi, Chairman of Okene Local Government, emphasized the urgent need for collective action, stating that Violence against women is an assault on humanity.
He noted that together, we must create a society where women feel safe, respected, and empowered to thrive.
He pledged that Okene Local Government under his auspices stands committed to policies that champion gender equality and justice.
Her Excellency, Hajia Sefiyat Ododo, in her keynote address, reaffirmed the state government's dedication to eradicating violence against women and urged all stakeholders to unite in building a peaceful and just society.
This impactful event highlighted Kogi State’s commitment to the global fight against gender-based violence.
