Babamba-Abdullahi Descendants Foundation holds Eleventh Edition of Free Eye Surgeries, Medical Outreach

Babamba-Abdullahi Descendants Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Thursday, commenced its 2024 free medical services to the people of Ebiraland and its environs.

The medical outreach which held at the family house of Babamba in Ahache, Okene local government area of Kogi State, recorded over 4000 persons who received free treatment.

The Secretary of the foundation explained that the two-day outreach offered a wide range of medical services, including consultations, medications, surgeries, and specialised treatments for the elderly, single mothers, and widows who need these services the most.

One of the sons of the family, and Director of the Directorate of Road Transport Services FCTA, Alh. Abdul-Lateef Bello who also spoke to journalists during the exercise revealed that it was the eleventh edition of the health outreach.

He said, "this year like for other years, we brought medical experts, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists to attend to the patients."

"The free drugs would be dispensed to the beneficiaries based on their health conditions", he added.

According to Alh. Abdul-Lateef Bello, the free medical outreach will provide essential health checks, including blood sugar level, malaria screening, blood pressure tests, HIV screening, deworming for children and adults, and Eye examinations.

He appealed to government organizations to partner with the foundation to reach more people in the subsequent editions.

One of the Doctors who attended to the patients found out that a lot of them suffer from hypertension, diabetes, and typhoid. 

He enjoined the people to reduce stress and salt intake and also advised them to consume safe water only. 

Hawawu Musa, one of the beneficiaries, said the medical assistance came at the right time when quality healthcare services are difficult to afford due to the hard economic situation in the country.

She prayed Allah bless all those who has gathered resources to make the program possible.
