Kogi State Accountant-General, Hajia (Dr.) Habibat Oyiza Onumoko has called for robust synergies between the Okene local government legislative and the executive arms of government to promote sustainable physical and economic development of the area.
The state Accountant-General made the call at the Okene Secretariat during her meeting with the APC stalwarts in the area.
She explained that there was an urgent need for party stakeholders to engage in massive sensitization of the people to properly understand the efforts and commitments of the government of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo towards addressing their challenges at the grassroot level.
The Accountant-General thanked the people of the area for voting for all the candidates of the All Progressives Congress in the last local government election and promised that the present APC government will not disappoint them.
Reiterating the need to give back to the society, the Accountant-General charged the newly elected local government chairman, Hon. Ahmed Nuhu Enesi to attract socio-economic development to his council.
She said, 'local government remains the closest tier of government to the people, serving as a primary interface between the citizens and government. It's where development is most directly felt. It's therefore important that the local government council boss will represent the state government well at the grassroot level".
While expressing confidence that the Okene local government chairman will manage his resources prudently and fast-track developments at the grassroot level, she enjoined the 11 ward councillors to support him to provide democracy dividends.
The Accountant-General also charged the party executives in the area to build upon the party structures at the grassroot level through constant engagements with the people.
In their separate remarks, the APC Stakeholders thanked the governor for his open and all-inclusive governance processes in the state and commended the appointment of Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko as the Accountant-General of Kogi State, positing that she's a round peg that perfectly fits into a round hole.
