TANKO: FANISI BABATUNDE WRITES HEART BREAKING NOTE

So this vibrant young Kogite "Tanko" died from injuries sustained from an accident just less than 48hrs ago. I think I met him last in a popular "Tuwo & Fish joint" in Lokoja town. I still keep flashing back as he came to exchange pleasantries at our table.

Now, his death shook the entire youth community, especially those who have stayed in Lokoja for a while as he was a popular face and not because he was a wealthy and influential person. But I know he was close to several youths due to his friendly and street personality.

One thing that struck me after his untimely demise is the caliber of persons who thronged the various social media platforms to express how "Sad" they were upon hearing his demise. Some expressed how much they were supposed to see. Some said they had plans for him. I saw so many "Emotional" things written here and there by those I know would never pick his calls as they see him as a regular street guy. Well, Tanko is no longer here to identify the genuine love from the fake ones. I pray that God grant repose to his soul- AMEN

Another shocking issue is the number of personalities that stormed and have continue to visit his family house since his burial. In a particular entourage, I counted close to 5 House of Assembly members including the Speaker of the House, several other notable persons have visited including serving commissioners in the State. I doubt if his Father's house ever received that calibre of persons in his life time. May we not be honored in our absence alone but in our presence too... (AMEN)

This takes me a little step back to when I lost my beloved Oluwakemi, my phone has never rang that way in my life. People called me till I started getting irritated. This was because so many of the callers were calling to introduce themselves. It was because we never shared a close relationship but the news of death aligned us. I received the biggest visits in my life in the space of just 20 minutes after I left the hospital where she passed on that morning. Many persons who didn't know we had buried her that same day were asking me how they could support financially for the burial. Bad news is a great traveller and king of alignments.

One gospel truth is that as we travel this journey of life, live your life as it pleases God and yourself alone. Make sure you don't gather enemies courtesy of people who will not value you while you are alive. Ensure you please God and yourself alone I repeat. I say this with all sincerity because except lately, I never saw the correlation of his relationship with this group of influential persons and his persons. Obviously most of the tears were crocodile tears and eye service. It shows that bad news has more friends lately than success of a man.

Let me add that we are all guilty of this including myself. Can we actually change? Still thinking. How "Reflective" are we on the life of those around us?

I pray he finds rest with his maker. May God grant his entire family the fortitude to chest this great and collosal loss. May the lord not leave those he has left behind.

Rest in Peace "Tanko"
