NUC Approves New Postgraduate Programmes for Glorious Vision University, Ogwa Campus

Glorious Vision University (formerly Samuel Adegboyega University), located in Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria with a campus in Lagos State, Nigeria, has received expanded approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for several new postgraduate programmes.
In a memo dated September 6, 2024, the NUC approved additional postgraduate programmes to commence in the 2024/2025 academic session.
These programmes include:
M.Phil and PhD Accounting
M.Phil and PhD Business Administration
M.Phil and PhD Economics
M.A. and PhD English Language
Ph.D. History and Diplomatics Studies
PGD, M.A. and PhD Philosophy
This follows an earlier approval communicated by the Acting Executive Secretary of the NUC, Chris J. Maiyaki, through an official memo on December 29, 2023, for the establishment of some postgraduate programmes slated to commence in the 2023/2024 academic session at the university's main campus.
The approved programmes from this earlier notification include:
M.Phil /PhD Mass Communication
M.Phil /PhD Religious Studies
PGD, M.Sc. & M.Phil/PhD Public Administration.
The NUC noted that both sets of approvals are the result of comprehensive resource verification visits conducted by a panel of experts to ensure the university’s capacity to support these academic programmes.
The NUC further clarified that the approvals did not include part-time modes of delivery and that the university must submit a separate request for any future consideration for part-time programmes, ensuring compliance with the Commission’s standards and operational guidelines.
The Vice-Chancellor of Glorious Vision University, Prof. Ezekiel S. Asemah, has conveyed strong optimism regarding the future of the institution, reaffirming his commitment to creating an exceptional educational environment for students.
He highlighted the core values that guide the university's mission, including academic excellence, research innovation and active community engagement.
Prof. Asemah said that the introduction of these new postgraduate programmes is not only intended to attract a diverse student body, but also aims to enhance the university's reputation, advance scholarly research, breed first class postgraduates and contribute to the socio-economic advancement of Nigeria and the world at large.
According to Prof. Asemah, “When I was appointed the Vice-Chancellor, I vowed to transform Glorious Vision University into a centre of academic excellence and with the recent approvals, we are now poised to making a substantial impact in the academic realm, providing enriching educational experiences that equip students to face the challenges of an ever-evolving global landscape.’'
"I assure everyone that under my watch and beyond, this university will maintain high academic standards and we will invest in continuous professional development for faculty members to ensure they remain at the forefront of educational practices", he noted further.
The Vice Chancellor promised that the university will foster an inclusive and supportive environment, encouraging students to engage in research and community service. “Our goal is to not only educate, but also to inspire our students to become leaders and change-makers in society,” he added.
