Only one person can be Governor at a time, Kogi AG Habibat tells SDP governorship Candidate


Kogi State Accountant-General, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko has congratulated the  Governor of Kogi state, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, and his Deputy, Mr. Joel Oyibo Salifu, on their election victory at the Supreme Court on Friday.

The AG in her congratulatory message maintained that only one person can be Governor of a state at a time, and urged the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Murtala Ajaka to join hands with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to build a prosperous Kogi state.

According to her, the victory of Governor Usman Ododo at the Supreme Court aligned with the popular voice of the electorates, noting that the historic judgement further restored the confidence Nigerians reposed in the Judiciary.

The AG also congratulated former governor Yahaya Bello for passing the baton of leadership to a worthy successor to continue his legacy, and hailed the All Progressives Congress State party Chairman, Hon. Abdullahi Bello for the victory recorded at the Supreme Court.

She said the ruling of the apex court, which has ended the judicial tussles on the governorship election, will motivate Ododo's administration to continue to deliver more dividends of democracy to Kogi citizens.

While congratulating the people of Kogi State, "the AG said the victory is for the rule of law, our democracy and the entire people of Kogi State."

On Friday August 23, the Supreme Court in Abuja delivered a decisive ruling, affirming the governor’s position and solidifying his mandate as the governor dully elected by the people of Kogi State.
