As we approach Kogi State local government election, women have been urged to exercise their right to vote and make their voices heard.
The Accountant-General of Kogi State, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko gave the charge today while addressing some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Kogi Central women.
Emphasing the importance of women's participation in the electoral process, the AG stressed that voting is not only a right but a responsibility, especially for women who have been underrepresented.
She said it's essential women understand and adhere to the party's protocol and constitution, adding that by doing so, they'll be contributing to the party's unity, growth, and success.
In her reactions to APC's decision to reserve 40 percent of Councillorship positions to women as candidate of the party in the October 19 local government election in the state, the AG said, "I congratulate all Kogi women over the position of our great party in the forth-coming local government election.
"As we prepare to take on leadership roles in politics, we must remember that our actions and decisions will be scrutinized."
"It's essential we don't disappoint our male counterparts who have often supported and empowered us."
She beseeched women to stay focus on shared goals and objectives, and also to embrace their leadership roles with confidence and authority.
While calling for more prayers and supports from women for the administration of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the AG reiterated that the governor believe that women's participation in politics is crucial for building a more equitable and just society.
