KSDMSMA Executive Sec. Applauds First Lady Hajiya Sefinat Ododo as a Champion in Kogi's Fight Against Tuberculosis



The Executive Secretary of the Kogi State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency (KSDMSMA), Pharmacist Salamat Ize, has praised Hajiya Sefinat Usman Ododo, the First Lady of Kogi State, for her unwavering dedication to combating tuberculosis. Her efforts have significantly complemented the health initiatives led by her husband, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State.

Speaking to journalists in Lokoja during the recent launch of the Stop TB Partnership Nigeria in Kogi State, where Her Excellency was appointed as the Stop TB Champion, Pharmacist Salamat Ize expressed her admiration for the First Lady’s proactive stance. She noted that Hajiya Sefinat’s involvement in the campaign marks a pivotal moment in the state’s ongoing battle against tuberculosis. This initiative is expected to heighten awareness about the prevention and management of this disease, which remains a major public health issue.

Pharmacist Salamat further commended the strategic approach taken by the First Lady in mobilizing the wives of various Local Government heads across the state. She expressed confidence that this inclusive strategy would ensure the program’s benefits reach every corner of Kogi State, enhancing its impact and sustainability.

In addition to her commendations, Pharmacist Salamat provided vital medical advice to those suffering from tuberculosis. She emphasized the importance of adhering strictly to prescribed medication regimens:

1. Take your medication exactly as prescribed by your doctor.

2. Do not miss any doses or stop taking your medication without consulting your doctor.

3. Complete the full duration of treatment as prescribed, typically between 6-9 months.

She also assured the public that the Agency is fully committed to maintaining optimal storage conditions for anti-tuberculosis drugs, ensuring their efficacy.

The Executive Secretary also lauded the Kogi State Ministry of Health, under the capable leadership of the Honorable Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abdulazeez Adeiza, for its proactive role in combating endemic diseases. She highlighted the Ministry’s efforts in translating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s health policies into actionable programs, thereby improving healthcare delivery across the state.

Pharmacist Salamat concluded by reaffirming KSDMSMA’s unwavering commitment to supporting the successful implementation of the Stop TB program. She assured that the Agency would continue to collaborate closely with all stakeholders to achieve the program’s objectives, ultimately safeguarding the health of every resident in Kogi State.
