Kogi Women Passes Vote of Confidence on Gov. Ododo, State AG, Habibat

Women in Kogi State on Sunday, August 18, 2024 passed a vote of confidence on the executive governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for bringing a fresh wave of governance to the people of Kogi state, and the state Accountant-General, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko for her sterling represention of the people, especially, the womenfolk in the present administration.

The women drawn from the three senatorial districts in a joint meeting with members of FairWin Women Advancement Association (FAWWASS) in Okene, commended governor Usman Ododo for his achievements in security, education, health, agriculture and infrastructure, as well as, his promptness in the payment of salaries to civil servants, pensions and gratuities to pensioners.

Reacting to appeal filed by the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, SDP Muritala Ajaka at the Supreme Court challenging the verdict of the Appeal Court affirming the victory of Governor Usman Ododo in the November 11, 2023 Kogi State governorship election, the host, Hon. Bilikisu Onumoko who is the president of FAWWASS lampooned the opposition for erroneously pointing accusing fingers. 

She advised those in the opposition parties to allow the Supreme Court to do their job and refrain from spreading unfounded rumors and malicious allegations against the government of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo.

Other women who spoke during the meeting praised the Accountant-General of the state, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko for her advocacy and commitment to women's empowerment.

While hailing Governor Usman Ododo for implementing political inclusivity, which according to them has brought unity across party lines, they noted that the AG's initiatives has also created opportunities for women and youths in the state to thrive, and commended her dedication to gender equality.

The women charged the people of Kogi State to work together and promote a culture of hard work, respect for constituted authorities and honesty.
