Census: EPA calls for more Awareness and Support
The President-General of Ebira People's Association (EPA), Dr. Godwin Oyibo has reiterated the commitment of EPA in carrying out sensitization programmes across local government areas in Kogi Central, especially in
rural communities, on the need to be captured in the census exercise.
The EPA president stated this yesterday while addressing some government officials, traditional rulers and members of the Kogi Central Community Development Association (KCCDA) in Adavi Joint Community hall.
The President-General said there is the need to adequately sensitize and mobilize the people to be involved in the census, explaining that the census data would enable the government to accurately assess population's needs, allocate resources effectively and make informed decisions for sustainable development.
The President-General used the occasion to call on the state Government and top government officials from the Central to partner with EPA in its bid to sensitize and enlighten the public about the importance of census towards national planning and development, especially as it affects Ebiraland.
He also appealed to the media, Civil Society Organisations, religious and traditional leaders, as well as other stakeholders in Ebiraland to join hands with EPA in sensitizing the public about the exercise and encourage them to participate fully when the time comes.
While underlining the need for community participation in conflict resolution and crime fighting, Dr. Godwin urged the leadership of the KCCDA to join force with EPA with determination and resilience to build a brighter future for Ebira community.
Recall that the census exercise was suspended in 2023 due to concerns raised by civil society organisations bordering on poor awareness, funding, and lack of transparency in funding sources.
