The Kogi State Government has strongly condemned the recent attack on Alhaji Muritala Yakubu Ajaka at the Supreme Court following the conclusion of electoral litigations involving the Governors of Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa States.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State labeled the actions of those involved as “barbaric and uncivilized,” describing the incident as a grave threat to the integrity of the judiciary. He called on all Nigerians to avoid resorting to self-help and to instead uphold the principles of law and order.
The statement signed on Sunday by the state commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, further urged law enforcement agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible for the attack, emphasizing the need to protect the safety and integrity of court environments across the country.
The government also appealed to Nigerians to support constitutionalism and unity, values championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, as essential for the nation’s progress and development.
