Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Monday A. Anyebe says all sporting activities in the state will be given a face lift.
Mr Anyebe stated this in a meeting with the kogi State Sports Association Chairmen in his office in Lokoja.
He said under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo led administration, sporting activities will be boosted to encourage sports lovers in the state and Nigeria in general.
According to the Commissioner, efforts are being put in place to remodel the Lokoja Confluence Stadium to world standard to enhance sporting activities in the state
He said various athletes will be encouraged to come on board to demonstrate their talent and assured the association of the government partnership towards developing sporting activities in the state.
The commissioner noted that what the present administration under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo needs from them is their support, saying all their observation will be put to use for the growth of the ministry and the state in general.
The former State chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Odaudu James who is also the state chairman of the Traditional sports, appealed to the Commissioner to make the sporting activities in the state as a focal point of his administration.
Also, the Director of Sports Council, Mr. Obakachi Onipe said the sports sector in the state needs to enhance the standard of sporting in the state to improve the economy of the state.
Mr. Obakachi Onipe described the efforts of the Commissioner so far to the progress of the ministry as commendable, and appealed to him not to relent in his efforts to write his name in gold.
