A prayer has been organized for the repose of the soul of late, Alh. Aliyu Isma'ila Onumoko who passed away nine years ago.
The information made available to newsmen revealed that the prayers and thanksgiving ceremony was organized by the family members of Adai Onumoko to mark 9th anniversary of their late father, Alh. Aliyu Isma'ila Onumoko and to thank Allah for the appointment of their daughter, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko as the new Accountant-General of Kogi State.
The event, which took place at Otoyi Uvete in Abuga/ Ozuja ward, Okengwe in Okene Local Government Area was attended by prominent personalities from the twenty one local government areas of the state and beyond.
During the prayer session, the Islamic cleric admonished the people to emulate the virtues of the deceased who impacted positively on the lives of many.
The dignitaries who graced the event in their separate remarks, described late Alh. Aliyu Isma'ila Onumoko as a disciplinarian whose life on earth was well spent. They said during his time as a community leader, he contributed immensely to the growth of his community and the area witnessed peace, growth and stability. They prayed Allah place him in Aljannatul Firdausi and bless all the children he left behind.
In her vote of appreciation, the Accountant-General of Kogi State, Hajia Habibat Oyiza Onumoko gave thanks to God for protecting her life over the years.
She thanked the present governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and the immediate past governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello CON for finding her worthy of her new position. She said she will continue to put in her best to ensure the state succeed.
The day-long event was rounded off with Moulid Nabiyi to commemorates the life and legacy of the most important figure in the religion of Islam, Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
The Moulid Nabiyi featured prayers for the new administration under His Excellency, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and for continued peace currently being enjoyed in the state.
Some personalities at the prayer include Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State; Hon. Abdullahi Bello; Chief Judge of Kogi State; Justice Josiah Majebi ; President of Customary Court of Appeal, Kogi State; Justice Usman SMJ; Former Kogi State Head of Civil Service; Mrs Hannah Odiyo; Commissioner for Works; Hon. Mohammed Yusuf; APC Chieftain; Hon Ibrahim Ahovi.
Others include, Traditional rulers; members of the State House of Assembly, Local Government Caretaker Chairmen, DLGs and Treasurers, Islamic Scholars; amongst others.
