Kogi guber: FAWWASS holds solidarity walk for Gov elect, Ahmed Usman Ododo

FairWin Women Advancement Association (FAWWASS) today embarked on a solidarity march in Lokoja in support of Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, the declared winner of the November 11, 2023 Kogi governorship election.

The group who took to the streets to observe the protest were seen with placards with inscriptions like “We Stand to Defend our Mandate", " We Love the Baby Lion", Kogi Women voted Ododo/Joel", "Kogi First before any other Agenda", "Join Hands with the Governor-Elect to Move Kogi Forward", among others.
The group said the march became necessary to counter the protest by some unpatriotic Kogites who are bent on denting the image of the the State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and that of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Speaking with Channels Television and Radio Kogi reporters, Hon. Bilikisu Onumoko, President of the group, said Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, candidate of the APC won the election because he was better prepared. According to her, the November 11 governorship election is the best election handled by the INEC in recent times.
The group further warned Mr. Muritala Yakubu Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against inciting riots and statements capable of causing unrests.

Hon. Bilikisu said the position of the law is very clear, stating that whoever attempts to disturb the peace in the state should be arrested and made to face the wrath of the law. She said Muri's desperation for power is a threat to peace in the state.

Others who spoke during the counter protest said, "Kogi governorship election was free and fair, and the winner has been declared by the INEC. No propaganda can stop his inauguration."

"Before the governorship election, Muritala Ajaka had already described a section of the state as his common enemy. Should such statement come from a candidate of a political party that wants to govern a state?"

"Muri doesn't know it's not a Senatorial election. How does he even expect to win when his party, SDP has a structure only in one senatorial district of the state?".
