Birthday: Perm. Sec. Habibat Onumoko, Phenomenal Woman of Substance, Says FAWWASS

FairWin Women Advancement Association (FAWWASS) has described the permanent secretary in the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hajia (Dr.) Habibat Onumoko as a phenomenal woman of substance.

The president of the group, Hon. Bilikisu Onumoko thanked God for the life of the permanent secretary, who was recently conferred the Chieftaincy title, Yeye Atuluse of Aiyetoro Kiri Bunu Kingdom, acknowledging that she has been an industrious woman whose humanitarian interventions for the less privileged and the vulnerable is unquantifiable. 


Hon. Bilikisu said regardless of religion, tribe, or ethnicity, the permanent secretary has continued to give her all to better the lives of many, using her FAWWASS Foundation as a vehicle to intervene in so many areas of human needs.

The birthday celebration commenced with good will messages from notable personalities, mostly lauding the permanent secretary for her doggedness and resilience in the last November 11 governorship election in the state.

The Deputy governor-elect, Dr. Joel Salifu Oyibo who was also in Okene for the event, eulogized the permanent secretary for her humility, firm moral principles, and support to the administration of His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello, as well as the impact she has created in the lives of Kogi women, people with disabilities and the youths.

He wished the permanent secretary well in her future endeavors and charged members of FAWWASS to continue to pray for the state.

In a related development to commemorate her birthday, the permanent secretary on Saturday, empowered over 3000 women with equipment and financial assistance after taking them through skill acquisition trainings.

The women were empowered with sewing machines, oven toasters, stand mixers, hair dryers, deep freezers and monetary support to start fresh business and to boost businesses of those already in petty trade.

The perm. secretary said the initiative aligned with her mission to enhance the quality of life for women and youths throughout the state.

She used the occasion to hail Governor Yahaya Bello for his laudable projects in the state, explaining that the Governor has been fair to all Kogites at home and in the diaspora.

She said the reformation brought to Kogi state civil service by Governor Yahaya Bello is in the best interest of the state, noting that before the coming of the present administration, the civil service was bastardized by those in power. 

The permanent secretary thanked the Commissioner and staff of the Ministry for LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Director-General, Kogi State Pension Commission, Mrs Maryam Abedoh, Hausa/Fulani Community in Kogi Central, Traditional rulers across the state who graced the occasion, Special Adviser to the Governor on Commerce and Industry, Hon. Ibrahim Ahovi, Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Alh. Adams Adabenege, DLGs and Treasurers from the 21 LGAs, amongst other dignitaries.

She encouraged the beneficiaries to build upon the knowledge they have acquired from the training. 

The beneficiaries drawn from the 21 LGAs of the state in their separate remarks said the celebrant was passionate about helping the needy.

According to them, the permanent secretary has intervened at critical times and moments in the lives of all categories of the needy in Kogi state including the orphans, widows and women with critical health conditions. 

They prayed God to bless the perm. secretary with long life, strength and more success to enable her offer more service to the state and humanity.
