The Honourable Minister of Women Affairs Barr. Uju Kennedy categorically stated that She will ensure that justice prevail in the University of Calabar Rape scandal and will bring those behind the heinous act to book.
In a statement released to press men, she stated that "Whoever that lies in the calabar sexual case will go to jail .I will personally sue the person and jail him or her, whether the Vice Chancellor, Professor or the Alleged Victim".
The rise in Sexual harrasment cases in our higher institutions by individuals who are supposed to hold the highest standard of professionalism is becoming too embarrassing. So many of such cases have been swept under the carpet as witnesses either refuse to testify or the authority put a lid on the case without a closure. Forceful carnal knowledge of an individual is a federal crime punishable under Section 358 of the Criminal code of the 1999 Constitution as amended.
The minister of Women Affairs who have within her mandate to protect the integrity of the vulnerable women have taken it upon herself to seek justice for the alleged victim and seek for a legal closure.
