Ngreporters: Good day sir. Thank you for receiving us in your office today. We would like you to tell us your name, your family background, Education background and any other thing you will like us to know about you sir.
My name is Engr. Musa Ajibade Ibrahim. I hail from Okene LGA. I'm from Agada Clan and my sub clan is Akuta. I started my primary school in 1984 at St. Andrew Schools Okene. I then proceeded to Government Secondary School, Nyanya, Abuja for my secondary school education. After then I got admission to study Mechanical Engineering at Adamawa State University, Yola, now Modibo Adamawa University of Technology, Yola. After acquiring certificate in Mechanical Engineering, I proceeded to Aberdeen, Scotland where I had my Masters in Project Management. Because of the love I've for education, I went for another Masters degree in Business Administration in the University of Portharcourt, River state. In 2011, I set up a consultancy engineering firm know as Oysters Holdings Ltd here in Abuja. God has been merciful to me. I'm happily married with children.
Ngreporters: What inspired you to go into politics?
Even though I stay here in Abuja, i'm still very connected to my people at home. Governor Yahaya Bello is my biggest inspiration. You see, I'm a technocrat. When His Excellency ventured into politics, most people were shocked. They were shocked because they felt that he should focus on his business and leave politics alone. Because of his doggedness all through the electoral processes, I mean his will to buy the nomination and the intent form and to partake in the primary election, I became his fan. In 2019, I traveled home with resources to canvass support for his re-election. I invited all interest groups across the local government areas in the state and rallied support for him. It was tough really but eventually, God gave him victory again. I will be correct to say that he is man that's destined for greatness.
Ngreporters: How do you combined business with politics. How're you able to reconcile them?
In life, politics should be a vocational service. It may interest you to know that apart from being an engineer and a politician, I'm also a farmer. One should be good at picking multi tasks. We're in that century. Before you venture into politics, just try to have a profession or just anything you can always fall back to. Coming to your question, you see, in my company, I've human resources manager, I've a general manager and technical officer. So I distributed schedules. And in this era of ICT, one can always get job done even from home. You can have conferences, meetings, get reports and approvals without necessary calling for physical meetings. So basically, I distribute duties and my staff have been wonderful.
Ngreporters: You were one of the aspirants in the last senate election. How did you feel when you did not make it to being your party's candidate?
The party's decision is always supreme. In every contest, there would be winner and the loser. In my own case, I'm a winner. My acceptability to my people was top notch. I was shown genuine love and this alone gave me satisfaction. So it's a win-win for all of us. The present Senator for Kogi Central, Engr. Abubakar Sadiq Ohere (FNSE) is my professional colleague. He's well experienced and competent to deliver for the people of Kogi central in the red chamber. All my political structures across the state worked for him.
Ngreporters: What's your rating of Governor Yahaya Bello's led administration in Kogi state?
The government of Alh. Yahaya Bello is excellent. Before 2015, where are the roads in Kogi state? Was Kogi State safe? Do our people have safe water to drink? We should thank him for the Reference Hospital that can take care of all the people in Kogi state. Then see the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Osara, Governor Yahaya Bello should be commended for bringing a School of such standard and magnitude. For Governor Yahaya Bello in all honesty, I will score A1 again and again.
Ngreporters: Guber election is fast approaching, do you think your party can win the governorship election in Kogi state?
It's no contest. Incumbency is not even the factor I'm looking at. The legacies of the APC from the FG down to the state is not even what I'm looking at, let's talk about the APC Blue Print, what the party has in stock for Nigerians. You will know that APC mean well for the country. We don't need to fight ourselves over political differences. It's crystal clear, Victory is in sight for the All Progressives Congress from the top to the bottom. APC under the leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello in the state is performing excellently. APC would win no doubt.
Ngreporters: What's your message for the people of Kogi State?
They must be advocates of peace, support development and be theirs brother's keeper. Generally, the people of Kogi state should respect constituted authority and continue to pray for more wisdom for all our leaders.
