Adavi Local Government Council Boss, Hon. Joseph Omuya Salami earlier today inaugurated committee on The Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape (ACReSAL).
This project is an offshoot of the just concluded World Bank of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management project ( NEWMAP).
Barr. Laddi Jatto COO in her address thanked God for His mercies. She hailed the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello for his foresights and commended the executive chairman of Adavi local government for his love for development.
"The ACReSAL Project is a six-year Project that seeks to address several critical challenges in Northern Nigeria, namely: High poverty rate, low literacy levels, conflicts and violence, degradation of natural resources, poor agricultural productivity, climate risks, desertification, under - utilization of modern technology and weak institutional capacity.
"The ACReSAL project aligns with the Federal Government's determination to restore 4 millions hectares of degraded land by 2030, and ACReSAL has the mandate to restore 1 million hectares out of the 4 million hectares mentioned above.
"The Project has four components which will be implemented over a period of six years as underlined below. However, only Component "A -C" shall directly impact Project implementation at the State level.
- Dry-land Management
- Community Climate Resilience
- Institutional Strengthening and Project Management.
" The purpose of this visit is to Inaugurate the committee for the possible of the effective implementation of the project which requires the Constitution of a Local Government Project Management Committee.
"Finally, we have therefore come to express our desire to partner with your Local Government, and to formally introduce the ACReSAL project to you, considering the important role we believe a partnership with your Local Government will play in the overall progress of the ACReSAL Project in Kogi State".
Hon. Joseph in his short speech,
"Firstly, I would like to appreciate the Executive Governor of Kogi State, H.E, Alhaji Yahaya Bello whom in his leadership acumen has in various ways, at the level of his government at state level, made efforts in attending to issues of importance especially in the areas of Natural Disasters management and control.
"Secondly, is to seize this period to commend and appreciate the Kogi State coordinator of Nigeria Erosion and Watershed management project (NEWMAP), Barr. Laddi Jatto COO for displayed competence all the time in seeing to most maximum and effective execution of projects that concerned her office by always achieving the best out of government provisions.
"This act of performance has in several periods, earned Kogi State government national praises in NEWMAP project execution, we appreciate you ma.
On this antecedence we are hopeful of successful delivery of Agro-Climate Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscape Project (AC re SAL): the World Bank Collaborated Program designed for the 19 northern State and the FCT that is to resuscitate one million hecters of damaged landscape in the project states in the South Sahara.
This project will go a long way in helping a deforesting regions and desert prone areas in Northern Nigeria.
The Chief Security Officer of Adavi Local Government, Hon. Joseph in conclusion, congratulated the committee members having made list of men of competence that are believed to be capable of taking up this responsibly in Adavi Local Government to sail this World Bank intervention project to execution by strictly adopting the culture of determination for effective execution of project.

- Participating in Community Sensitization
- Participatory Rural Appraisal PRA
- Assisting Communities during the Watershed Community - level Plans (WCPs) formulation.
- Participating in routine monitoring activities
- Supervising the works conducted by the Community.
- Receiving and documenting of letter of Expression of Interest by the Community Interest Groups and submitting to the SPMU.
- Participating in Missions
- Fulfilling reporting responsibilities to the SPMU.
