The Speaker of the Kogi State Youth Parliament (KSYP), RT. Hon. Ibikunle Olajide on a courtesy call to the Chief Executive of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service, Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe, has urge the Service to have a workable plan for the youths of the state to uplift their standards of living.
The Speaker also charged KGIRS to ensure that they enlighten the people of the need to pay tax, saying such enlightments should be extended to the grassroot level.
To achieve this according to the Speaker, the youths of the state should be directly involved in the programs to enable them benefit directly from the service, reiterating that the Youth Parliament is willing to key into the developmental agenda of the New Direction Team fully.
In his welcome speech, the Executive Chairman of the Service, Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe said in a bid to be responsible leaders in society, youths should indulge in meaningful ventures to be self reliant.
He charged the youths to shun activities that are inimical to their growth and the progress of the society.
The executive chairman also vowed to tackle fake revenue collectors as part of measures to check multiple taxations on businesses and taxpayers across the state.
He said the revenue generated from taxation has been judiciously used on infrastructural development citing the Ultra Modern General Hospital in Gegu-Beki, Kabba Township Road Network, Ganaja Flyover, Confluence University of Science and Technology, Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, 38km of Inele, Adum and Ikem roads constructed in Olamaboro Local Government Area as few out of many legacy projects of the present administration.
He said Kogi State Government can do more when Kogites pay tax promptly and expresses confidence to increase the income profile of the State through internally generated revenue.
Alh. Sule Salihu Enehe congratulate the members of the parliament and pledges the Service supports to the initiative and pogrammes of the parliament.
